Refunds

1. Who can refund a purchase
For purchases processed directly by Mystrix, refunds are issued by the operator (see Operator Identity). A store or other external payment provider may instead issue a refund for a purchase it processed under its own rules. Creators cannot issue, authorize, or promise you a refund, and Mystrix does not provide creators any way to do so — there is no creator-facing refund tool on the platform.
2. All purchases are final unless refunded
As stated in the Terms of Service §6, all purchases are final unless otherwise required by applicable law. The operator or the payment provider may still grant a refund under the process that applies to the purchase. Requesting a refund does not guarantee one will be issued.
3. How to request a refund
For a purchase processed directly by Mystrix, contact us through our support system and describe the purchase and the reason for your request. For an App Store or other provider-processed purchase, use that provider's refund process; you may also contact Mystrix support if you need help identifying the transaction. There is no self-service Mystrix "refund my purchase" button.
4. What happens when a payment is refunded or reversed
When a provider reports that a payment was refunded, disputed, charged back, or revoked, Mystrix automatically adjusts the access and accounting backed by that payment (Terms of Service §6):
- A refund or dispute of a Stripe subscription invoice marks the corresponding subscription unpaid and removes its plan access when no other active subscription remains.
- A refund or dispute of a broadcast payment revokes the broadcast entitlement associated with that payment. A later, separately paid broadcast repurchase is not revoked by reversal of the older payment.
- Verified Apple `REFUND` and `REVOKE` notifications revoke the matching Apple subscription access or broadcast entitlement. Provider event time is used to prevent an older notification from overwriting newer subscription state.
Stripe processing is automated for `charge.refunded` and `charge.dispute.created`. Individual stories are not purchasable products.
5. Effect on creator compensation
If a purchase that funded creator compensation is later refunded or charged back, the compensation attributable to the amount returned is removed from payable compensation (see Creator Compensation and Payout Terms §6). A full reversal removes the full attributable earning; a partial reversal removes the proportional share. Provider payment and refund identifiers make those adjustments idempotent, so a redelivered event does not deduct them twice.
6. Contact
Questions about a refund or its effect on Mystrix access go through our support system. The payment provider's own process still applies when that provider processed the purchase.
